Texas Cultural Trust Announces 2019 Texas Medal of Arts Awards
The Texas Medal of Arts Awards accepts nominations in the following categories:
- Arts Education
- Arts Patron, Corporate
- Arts Patron, Foundation
- Arts Patron, Individual
- Lifetime Achievement
- Literary Arts
- Visual Arts
Nominations will be accepted between March 5th and April 5th, 2018. Nominees must have been born or raised in Texas or developed a major portion of their work in Texas to qualify. Awardees must be present at the TMAAs in February 2019 to receive their award. Nomination forms and eligibility can be found at www.texasmedalofarts.org/nominations.
“Texas Medal of Arts honors those who contribute to Texas’ proud heritage, either by creating art that inspires those around them or by supporting artists and arts programs within our Texas community,” said Linda LaMantia, board chair of the Texas Cultural Trust. “Our honorees have actively helped cultivate our state’s artistic legacy.”
About the Awards
Every biennium, since 2001, the TMAAs have spotlighted and celebrated Texas leaders and luminaries who have achieved greatness through their creative talents, as well as those whose generosity has opened doors to artistic opportunity for Texans of all ages. As the signature event for the Texas Cultural Trust, the Texas Medal of Arts Awards highlights the impact of the arts on education, the economy, and Texas’ rich and unique culture.
