by Texas Cultural Trust

Legendary awards event invites Texas artists and creative teams to develop new medal concept and artwork

WHAT: The Texas Cultural Trust’s famed Texas Medal of Arts Awards calls artists and creative teams residing in Texas—as well as those who have previously lived and worked in Texas—to submit their qualifications for the development of a new Texas Medal of Arts. The eleventh biennial celebration, chaired by iconic designer Brandon Maxwell, Linda LaMantia, and Judy Robison will honor the power of the arts as well as Texas leaders and luminaries in the arts October 18 & 19, 2021.

This project affords a unique opportunity for the creation of a new Texas Medal of Arts. No aspect of the new medal is predetermined, and the selected artist or creative team will be invited to:

  1. Propose any combination of materials, wearable dimensions, and imagery;
  2. Propose, create, and contribute full ideas, concepts, and artworks; and
  3. Work in collaboration with a Texas Medal of Arts designer to deliver a final, fully designed and fabricated medal.

The TMAA are biennial events and slated to return October 18 & 19, 2021.
