The Texas Commission on the Arts supports every corner of the state, empowering artists, small businesses, museums, festivals, educators, veterans programs, and nonprofits to fuel economic development, drive tourism, and tell Texas stories. the TCA is the only state agency for the arts in Texas.
THE ARTS DRIVE TOURISM AND FUELS THE TEXAS ECONOMY
- 1 in 4 tourists in Texas engage in cultural tourism – they spend more and stay longer.
- 11.2 million people visited Houston’s cultural district in 2022.
TCA GRANTS DESIGNED TO MAXIMIZE THE STATE’S RETURN ON INVESTMENT
TCA programs, including Cultural District Grants and Arts Organization Grants are:

- Matching-based (local buy-in required)
- Nonpartisan and field-driven
750+ organizations across Texas rely on TCA grants every year, especially in rural regions. These are matching grants with high accountability and local investment. The TCA is the only state agency for the arts in Texas.
Texans deserve a strong creative economy. Don’t let these amendments undermine it.
