Gregory Davis was appointed General Manager of WRR, Classical 101.1fm in Dallas in 1993 by the City of Dallas. During his tenure, the station has been acknowledged as one of the top classical stations in the U.S. by the National Association of Broadcasters and many Advertising and Marketing groups across the country.
He currently serves as a volunteer on several boards and commissions including the Van Cliburn Foundation, the Dallas Independent School Districts’ Townview Magnet Committee, Texas Tech University’s College of Mass Communications Advisory Board, Thanksgiving Square Foundation, The Metropolitan Opera Broadcasters Committee, Dallas Museum of Art and many other cultural arts institutions in the Dallas Fort Worth area. He is recognized for his broadcasting, marketing and financial initiatives in national and international markets including the European Union. He recently completed the most comprehensive broadcasts for the 13th International Van Cliburn Piano Competition in Fort Worth; an endeavor that was heard around the world through internet broadcasts, podcasts, and streaming initiatives.
He is a graduate of Texas Tech University, and has completed professional courses from the LBJ School of Public Affairs in Austin and the Georgetown University Business Development in Washington D.C. He has received numerous awards including the National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Award of broadcasting excellence; the Black College Radio Broadcaster of the Year Award; and the MarCom Professional Marketing awards.
