Booker T. Washington for the Performing and Visual Arts is an arts magnet high school providing intensive training in the arts and academics, preparing students to pursue college, conservatory or artistic careers. Ninety-nine percent of its students graduate, and the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts named the school as one of the five Distinguished Schools in the Arts. Distinguished graduates include R&B vocalist Erykah Badu, jazz singer Norah Jones, and Edie Brickell of the New Bohemians.
