Additional Ways to Support the Texas Cultural Trust:
Matching Gifts
Double or triple the impact of your donation with a matching gift
- Your employer’s match not only makes a difference to the Trust; it may also upgrade your membership or sponsorship level and increase your benefits.
- Contact your human resources representative for specific information on your company’s matching gift program.
Gifts of Stock
A gift of stock supports the Trust while providing unique tax benefits to the donor
- The simplest way to donate publicly traded stocks to the Texas Cultural Trust is to have your broker transfer shares electronically to the Trust’s account.
- TEXAS CULTURAL TRUST BROKERAGE INFORMATION
- Brokerage: Schwab One
- Attn: Heidi Marquez Smith
- Account#: 8545-5157
- DTC#: 0164
- Tax ID#: #74-2778878
- Important: When you make a gift of stock to the Trust, your name is not included with the transfer. Please notify us in advance of your stock transfer so we can thank you for your gift. Contact Mackenzie Jones at mjones@txculturaltrust.org or call 512.478.5289.
- The Trust will recognize you for the value of the stock based on an average of the highest and lowest quoted selling prices on the day that your stock donation is received by the Trust’s account. We make every effort to sell the stock immediately upon receipt. For your income tax purposes, your donation is completed on the day your broker transfers stock to the Trust’s account. We recommend that you consult your tax advisor regarding the actual amount of your deduction and the date of the contribution.
Donor Advised Funds
Giving through your donor advised fund can provide favorable tax benefits
- Giving through your DAF is easy! Simply contact your sponsoring financial or community institution to recommend a grant to the Texas Cultural Trust (or any other charity).
- Restrictions to be aware of:
- Donor Benefits — Donating through a DAF limits the donor benefits you may receive. Because a full tax deduction is received at the time of establishing the DAF, donors may only receive “incidental” benefits, or benefits which do not carry a fair market value. The Trust can share which donor benefits you may receive when you donate through a DAF.
- Special Event Tickets and Donations — Donors wishing to support the Trust through special events such as the Texas Medal of Arts or Young Masters should be aware of the following: Event tickets and tables, as they have substantial fair market value, may not be purchased through a DAF. An exception to this is when the donor will not attend the event and the entire table or seat is to be donated back to the Trust.
- References: U.S. Pension Protection Act of 2006, Sec. 1231. Excise taxes relating to donor advised funds.
Tribute Gifts
The Trust welcomes gifts made to celebrate family, friends and milestones, or in memory of loved ones.
- We are happy to mail a card to inform the honoree or family. Gifts may be made in honor of many events and occasions, including anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, weddings and other special occasions.
- To make a tribute gift, please contact Mackenzie Jones at mjones@txculturaltrust.org or call 512.478.5289.
